| | Basic of Life is that everyone has to accept something on faith. This is necessary since there is nothing that is able to be proven totally.
Science is based on observation and inference. A process referred to as the scientific method:
# 1. Observe some aspect of the universe. # 2. Invent a tentative description, called a hypothesis, that is consistent with what you have observed. # 3. Use the hypothesis to make predictions. # 4. Test those predictions by experiments or further observations and modify the hypothesis in the light of your results. # 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until there are no discrepancies between theory and experiment and/or observation.
This method allows us to expand the limits of our understanding by demonstrating the consistency of nature. Notice that this is a forward looking process since we are unable to test the past. Any statements made about the past that were not eye witnessed and recorded are simple extrapolations form from current data and not proven. That is why presented explanations for orgins are theories and not laws.
Questions whose answers must be decided on faith:
# 1. Is there a God? # 2. If there is a God, what type is He? # 3. Is there a written document by God for us?
Obviously, if you accept by faith that there is no God, then the rest of the question don’t require answering.
Here is the way I answer these questions:
# 1. Yes, there is a God. This world and universe are too complex not to have been designed. # 2. God is personal and caring. # 3. For me the Bible is the Word of God.
These answers are a big surprise coming from a pastor, right. Accepting the Bible as the Word of God by faith provides the base from which I am able to develop understanding about God and build a relationship with Him.
What have you accepted by faith?

I remember the scientific method :) I loved learning about that in school.I like how you answered the questions :) God is a great foundation. I have accepted by faith that God is good and that all things that happen are part of his perfect plan.
Great post dad! I like reading your posts because it reminds me of you preaching :) and I miss listening to your sermons. Hope you are having a great Friday! Love you!
